Karen L. Barzilay

 
Karen has worked in the field of strategic marketing communications and public relations for more than 17 years. In addition to spearheading product launches, corporate communications programs, media relations, and special events for pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology and managed care companies, Karen has directed more than 200 patient awareness campaigns for clinical trials in a variety of therapeutic categories.

Karen has extensive experience creating and implementing direct-to-patient, direct-to-consumer, direct-to-physician, and business-to-business outreach initiatives. Through her consulting practice she has worked in collaboration with many innovative medical companies, clinical research support organizations, Fortune 500 corporations, and marketing communications firms. Karen blends public relations and marketing communications talent with a deep understanding of the medical research and development process.

Throughout her career, Karen has designed and executed regional, national, and international public relations programs that reach designated audiences through trade, business and consumer print, broadcast and electronic media. Karen has generated widespread news coverage for conditions that are often either marginalized or ignored by the media, as well as for pharmaceuticals, biologics, and medical devices that have revolutionized medical care.

Prior to starting her own consulting business, Karen worked for BBK Worldwide, Bozell Worldwide, Cone Communications, and the University of Pittsburgh. Her award-winning work includes consumer, business-to-business and medical campaigns for Warner-Lambert, Texaco, Herman Miller, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Hasbro, C.R. Bard, Finesse® hair care products and many of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies. In addition, Karen’s experience with the Government of Mexico’s World Environment Day and the Paris Haute Couture Shows demonstrate her communications versatility.
